ABOUT US

Julia has been interested in photography all her life.

As a child she was always persuading her siblings and friends to pose for photographs anywhere and everywhere. By 16 she had saved up enough money to set up a darkroom in the garden shed.

In 1984 she went to Goldsmiths College in London to train as a photographer. From there she went on to be an assistant and then a fully fledged photographer at Conran Studios taking pictures for Mothercare, Habitat, local theatre groups and newspapers as well as private clients.

In the 1990s she branched out and became a Digital Producer making interactive programmes for children, exhibitions and musuems.  Her clients included The Natural History Museum, Grolier Encyclopaedias, Reed Books and Publicis.

Throughout her career Julia found working with children to be the most satisfying and rewarding. When she became a mum her camera was always on hand and over the years she has documented her son’s life and all the other children around her.

Julia set up Just Kids Photography in summer 2007 returning to her first passion of taking photographs of children.
